Habits
- Walk: 30 minutes outside
- Read: 20 pages
- No phone in bed: it charges in the kitchen
- Water: 8 glasses
Weekly check-in
Week of 28 September. Phone stayed out of the bedroom two nights out of three. Walking slipped when it rained. Next week: a 15-minute indoor walk counts on rainy days.
The note after a few days of talking to your AI. Tinted lines are what it added, the way Amber Notes shows an AI's changes, with Undo and the earlier version kept in the note's history.
What the prompt does
Your AI creates a note called “Habit tracker” in your Habits folder, or finds the one you already have, and learns how to keep it. One row a day. Tick it off yourself, or tell your AI what you did and it logs the row.
Paste it once into a chat in ChatGPT or Claude with Amber Notes turned on, or into Claude Code.
Then just talk to it
- Log today: walked, read 30 pages, 6 glasses of water, phone in bed again.
- Which habit did I miss most this month?
- How's my week looking?
Show the full prompt
First, look for a note called "Habit tracker" in my Amber Notes with search_notes. If there isn't one, create it with create_note in the folder "Habits", using exactly the markdown at the end of this message, the <!-- pane-table --> line included (it gives the table's columns their types).
Then: Use my Amber Notes note "Habit tracker". When I tell you what I did today, log one row with log_table_row: Yes or No for Walk, Read and No phone in bed, Water (glasses) as a number, and anything else in Note. If today already has a row, it gets updated, which is fine. When I ask for my week, read the table with read_table and add three short lines under "Weekly check-in" with append_to_note: what went well, what slipped, and one thing to try next week.
```markdown Habit tracker One row a day. Tick it off yourself, or tell your AI what you did and it logs the row. <!-- pane-table: Date=date; Walk=choice Yes|No; Read=choice Yes|No; No phone in bed=choice Yes|No; Water (glasses)=number; Note=text --> | Date | Walk | Read | No phone in bed | Water (glasses) | Note | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | ## Habits - Walk: 30 minutes outside - Read: 20 pages - No phone in bed: it charges in the kitchen - Water: 8 glasses ## Weekly check-in ```
The note you start with
This is what the prompt creates in Amber Notes: an ordinary note with the headings and the table ready. Your AI fills it in from there, and you can still edit every line yourself.
